On a busy street, moving traffic and pedestrians seem to magically disappear because their movement is not recorded. The sea and ocean appears as a ghostly mist as the waves motion is blurred over time. You can even use a Hoya HMC ND400 filter to safely photograph bright celestial events such as solar eclipses.
