Petal Shaped Lens Hoods

Jack the Hat Photographic stocks the complete range of these professional style petal shaped lens hoods. A petal hood (sometimes called a flower hood) is a specially shaped lens hood that is designed to maximise hood performance. The shape of the lens hood gives extra shade to the top and bottom of the lens and reduces the chance of vignetting at the sides of the frame. These petal hoods have a built in locking ring to help secure it to your lens and prevent movement. The matte finish of the inside of the petal hood reduces the chance of flare.

What size do I need? The petal lens hoods attach to the filter thread of your camera's lens. If you know your filter thread size then you know which hood you need. We sell all the popular thread sizes from 49mm up to 77mm.

Is this hood suitable for my lens? These petal hoods will work on today's DSLR lenses with focal lengths of 16mm and above e.g. if you have a standard 18-55mm zoom then this hood will work perfectly. If you're using a 35mm film camera or one of the professional full frame DSLR cameras then these hoods will only work on lenses with focal lengths of 24mm and higher. These lens hoods are not recommended for use on fisheye lenses and ultra wide angle lenses such as the Sigma 10-20mm and Canon 10-22mm lenses etc. If you are unsure, please ask us.
